Aeroitalia will operate special connections between Trieste and the Sardinian airports of Alghero and Olbia during the Christmas holidays, with flights scheduled between 23 December and 6 January. The plan, included in the winter 2026/2027 schedule of Trieste Airport, adds four dates for each destination and expands travel options between the Northeast and Sardinia.

Flights to Alghero are scheduled for 23, 26 and 29 December 2026 and 4 January 2027. The four dates for Olbia are 24 and 30 December, and 2 and 6 January. The schedule thus covers the days around Christmas, New Year’s Eve and Epiphany, providing additional travel options both for those travelling from Sardinia to Friuli Venezia Giulia and for those arriving on the island.

The dates announced for the two Sardinian airports are:

  • Alghero: 23, 26 and 29 December 2026; 4 January 2027.
  • Olbia: 24 and 30 December 2026; 2 and 6 January 2027.

The offer on the Sardinian routes complements the increased service on the Trieste–Salerno route. During the winter season, flights will increase from two to three weekly frequencies, on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays. In November and over the Christmas holidays, a Saturday flight is also scheduled, bringing the total to four weekly connections. On Mondays and Fridays, flights depart Trieste at 11:45 and arrive in Salerno at 13:15; the return flight takes off at 14:20 and lands at 15:50. On Sundays, the flight departs Trieste at 13:30 and arrives at 15:00; the return is scheduled for 16:00, arriving at 17:30.

The increase in frequencies to Salerno was announced in connection with the planned closure of Naples Airport in November 2026, with the aim of maintaining a direct connection between the Northeast and Campania. The Christmas schedule for Alghero and Olbia, meanwhile, supplements the seasonal summer flights between Trieste and Sardinia, which ended on 14 September. In 2027, Aeroitalia also plans to resume domestic flights in Sardinia between Alghero, Cagliari and Olbia from June.

The airline’s partnership with the Friulian airport also includes the public service obligation route between Trieste and Milan Linate, which has been operating since 1 July 2026. According to Trieste Airport, the service is attracting interest and achieving good levels of punctuality and regularity. The special flights to the two Sardinian destinations are therefore part of a broader expansion of the airport’s winter offering.
