Four days after the previous booking period ended, ITA Airways reopened seats on the Alghero–Linate route, but as of October 20, discounted territorial continuity fares were still unavailable online. The service extension, after the regional tender received no bids, will cover flights from October 25 to January 31, 2027.

The issue was reported by Michele Pais, a League city councillor in Alghero. In a search for Monday, October 26, he said a same-day return trip between Alghero and Milan was offered at €260.18, with none of the territorial continuity discounts shown. Pais cited the price and search results as a check of the booking pages.

The disruption concerns the ability to purchase tickets online at discounted rates, while the airline has indicated two alternative channels for booking under the continuity scheme. According to information provided by ITA Airways, fares will be available on its website once the system’s technical updates are complete.

  • For the extension period, from October 25 to January 31, continuity tickets can be purchased through the airline’s call center or at travel agencies.
  • According to ITA, online booking will be enabled once the necessary technical updates are complete.
  • In the search for October 26 cited by Pais, the same-day return trip cost €260.18 with no discounts visible.

The extension was announced by the Region on October 6 to avoid an interruption to services after the tender process failed to produce a result. The Alghero–Linate route remains subject to the previous scheme: according to information from the regional authorities, some discounts provided for under the new model do not apply during this phase, particularly those for workers and relatives. The new contract is expected to begin on February 1, 2027, following a new tender process.

Pais described the lack of online availability as a “very serious” problem and called on the Region to intervene. He stressed the importance of the connection for workers, students and professionals, as well as for people who need to reach hospitals and treatment centers in northern Italy. The report follows the earlier issue of seat availability beyond October 24, which was already discussed after the extension was announced: the Region had announced that flights would continue.
