Who are we really, beyond other people’s expectations? This is the question that sets the scene for (In)grato, the show Antonio Ornano brings to Teatro Verdi in Sassari. With an ironic take on imperfections and our often clumsy attempts to always appear at our best, the comedian challenges the expectation that we must be happy, satisfied and grateful in every circumstance.

The show

The monologue plays on the line between gratitude and ingratitude: amid the celebration of enthusiasm and happiness, Ornano also makes room for doubt and the possibility of taking a pause. It’s an unconventional choice, told with a light touch, that invites us to get back down to earth and look at our vulnerabilities without expecting to be perfectly fulfilled all the time. The artist’s comedy has often focused on life’s unpredictable aspects, from relationships to married life.
