Writer Andreea Simionel comes to Sassari to present “La ragazza d’aria”, her new novel published by Rizzoli. The event will be held on Thursday 20 August at 7:00 p.m. at the Koinè Ubik bookshop on Via Roma; Lorena Piras will be in conversation with the author.

At the heart of the book is Aryna, a fifteen-year-old Romanian girl who has moved to Italy: caught between her connection to her roots and the difficulties of fitting into life in Turin, she also struggles with a complex relationship with her body. The novel thus portrays adolescence as a space of transition, the bond between sisters and the discovery of books as a refuge.

Born in Romania in 1996 and moving to Turin in 2007, Simionel has also published “Straniera vita” and “Male a Est”. Her stories have appeared in various literary magazines; in 2021, she was also included in the German anthology “Literatur Tandem” and selected as a finalist for the Premio Nuovi Argomenti.

The event is part of the programme of Éntula, a distributed literary festival organised by the Lìberos association, and is also part of the Salude & Trigu network of the Sassari Chamber of Commerce. The evening is supported by local institutions and cultural organisations, including the Municipality of Sassari, the Canne al vento association, Rizzoli and partner bookshops.
