On Saturday 19 September, Alghero will host a new gegants parade, featuring the giants of Catalan festive tradition, as part of the Sant Miquel Festival 2026. The day will include an exhibition, procession and final dance in the historic centre.

The Sant Miquel Festival 2026 brings four groups of gegants from Catalonia to the heart of Alghero: the Gegants de Capellades, the Bisbalets i Cinta d'Igualada, Isabela d'Igualada and the Gegants de Piera.

Programme

From 16:30: Plantada de Gegants in Riviera del Corallo, with an exhibition of the giants, welcoming greetings and institutional speeches.
Afterwards: Cercavila through the streets of the historic centre, along via Garibaldi, Banchina Dogana, Port Salve, Piazza Civica and via Carlo Alberto, as far as Piazza Sulis.
At Piazza Sulis: presentation of the participating groups and the Grand Collective Final Dance.

The initiative highlights Alghero’s Catalan culture and identity through a meeting point for traditions, communities and visitors. The event is free and also suitable for children.
