A conference dedicated to the relationship between Grazia Deledda’s writing and the visual arts of the 20th century, taking place at the Doria Castle in Castelsardo.

Literature and the visual arts meet in Castelsardo for a study day dedicated to Grazia Deledda and the way she constructs images through words.

The conference

The event, entitled “Painting with Words. Grazia Deledda and 20th-Century Art”, is organised by the Municipality of Castelsardo in collaboration with the InSchibboleth association and is linked to the exhibition “Return to the 20th Century. Sardinian Art of the 20th Century – The De Montis Collection”, on display at the castle until 23 September.

Programme and speakers

Morning session from 9:30 to 12:30.
Afternoon session from 15:30 to 16:30.
Speakers include Davide Mariani, Angela Guiso, Efisio Carbone, Duilio Caocci, Clara Incani Carta and visual artist Igino Panzino.
Moderated by Federico Piras.

The academic direction is entrusted to Angela Guiso, a scholar of Grazia Deledda and contemporary Italian literature. The conference offers perspectives from literary studies, universities, museums and the visual arts.
