Friday 16 April 2027, Umberto Galimberti comes to the Teatro Comunale di Sassari with In Search of Happiness, a lecture-performance that weaves together philosophy and psychoanalysis to explore desire and the meaning of existence. The journey begins with Plato’s reflections on love, understood as a form of madness capable of going beyond the limits of reason. From this perspective, eros cannot be reduced to rules and definitions: even the limits of rational language reveal something about the experience of love.
From this reflection, the performance turns to the contemporary world and technology, seen not as a mere set of tools but as a form of rationality aimed at achieving the greatest results with the fewest resources. Galimberti highlights the risk that this logic may become the dominant criterion for thought and decision-making, relegating the irrational aspects of human experience to the status of obstacles. When only what is useful matters, questions about what is beautiful, true and just can be lost, along with the meaning that guides the search for happiness.
