The Chighizzu II tunnel, on State Road 131 “Carlo Felice” on the outskirts of Sassari, will be subject to nighttime closures between 9 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28 and 6 a.m. on Thursday, October 29. The work, ordered by Anas, is required to test the safety systems and will involve detours for traffic in both directions.

The closures will affect the two carriageways alternately and will be limited to the time needed for technical and functional checks. Both directions will therefore not be closed at the same time: depending on which carriageway is being tested, traffic will be diverted along routes indicated by the state road junctions and the urban road network.

To reach Sassari, motorists will have to leave the 131 at the Ossi-Tissi junction, at kilometer 204.800. To travel toward Cagliari, the route instead requires exiting at the Sassari-viale Italia junction and rejoining the Carlo Felice at Ossi-Tissi.

  • Toward Sassari: exit at the Ossi-Tissi junction (km 204.800), continue on State Road 127 toward Serra Secca and take the urban road network; rejoin the 131 at the Sassari-viale Italia junction (km 208.800).
  • Toward Cagliari: exit at the Sassari-viale Italia junction (km 208.800), follow the urban road network toward Serra Secca and continue on State Road 127 to the Ossi-Tissi junction, where you can rejoin the Carlo Felice.
  • Schedule: restrictions are scheduled from 9 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28 to 6 a.m. on Thursday, October 29. The carriageway closures will alternate while the tests are carried out.

The tunnel will reopen to normal traffic in both directions once the work is complete. The tests concern the safety systems installed inside the tunnel and are intended to check that they are working properly. Motorists traveling through the area at night should watch for detour signs near the junctions and follow the route provided for their direction of travel.

The closure is part of a series of nighttime works that have affected the Chighizzu II tunnel in recent months. In October, six more nights of closures on the 131 were announced for work in the tunnel, with detours between the same Ossi-Tissi and Sassari-viale Italia junctions.
