The subtropical high-pressure system is bringing a spell of stable, sunny weather to Sardinia, with temperatures gradually rising. The mild spell, expected especially between Wednesday, October 14, and Thursday, October 15, should continue through the weekend, while early mornings and evenings will retain a more autumnal feel.
After the rainy start to October, clear or mostly clear skies will prevail across the island. Temperatures will rise most noticeably during the middle of the day, locally reaching highs of up to 25 degrees. These values will not be uniform across Sardinia: current forecasts point to a gradual increase, without a return to the heat typical of summer.
Here is the day-by-day outlook:
- Tuesday, October 13: Mostly sunny; winds will remain fairly strong, and the seas may be rough or very rough.
- Wednesday, October 14: Expected to be the sunniest day, with temperatures rising. Moderate to strong winds and very rough seas are forecast in the southern waters.
- Thursday, October 15: The weather will remain stable and mild; winds and wave heights in the southern waters are expected to ease, with rough seas.
- From Friday, October 16: Temperatures will remain steady or rise slightly, with winds mainly from the north and generally rough seas.
The most pleasant conditions will be felt during the middle of the day, when sunshine and mild air will make it feel almost like summer. Daylight hours, however, are now shorter than in the summer months: the sun rises later and sets earlier, limiting the time available for the ground and atmosphere to warm up. As a result, highs will remain lower than in the warmer season.
Temperatures will drop noticeably in the early morning and after sunset, so it is worth bearing in mind the change between the middle of the day and evening. Overall, stable conditions will prevail through the weekend, with some possible changes in wind strength and seas remaining rough. The “ottobrata” will therefore bring bright, mild days, but will not erase the difference between daytime warmth and the cool of autumn mornings and evenings.
