The Regional Civil Protection Agency has issued a yellow alert for Tuesday, October 20 for hydrogeological risk associated with thunderstorms. The alert will be in effect from 00:00 to 21:00 and affects, among other areas, Logudoro; showers are expected in Sassari, with conditions worsening especially in the afternoon.

The bulletin, issued on Monday, October 19, indicates ordinary-level criticality for thunderstorms in the areas of Iglesiente, Campidano, Flumendosa-Flumineddu and Logudoro. The alert identifies the warning areas, not individual municipalities: for Logudoro, the designation “attention” is given.

According to 3B Meteo forecasts, the weather system will bring rain and thunderstorms to the island, accompanied by strengthening winds. In Sassari, the day is expected to begin with variable cloud cover, increasing as the hours go by. Showers are possible as early as the morning; the chance of precipitation will rise in the afternoon, particularly between 4 and 6 p.m., with possible rain in the evening as well.

Temperatures in the city will remain mild as the weather front passes: highs are expected to be around 25–26 degrees, with lows between 15 and 17. Unsettled conditions could continue in the early hours of Wednesday, October 21, with lingering precipitation and variable cloud cover. Gradual improvement is forecast during the morning, followed by longer sunny spells in the afternoon; highs are expected to fall to around 21 degrees.

During thunderstorms, Civil Protection advises people to take precautions, particularly anyone in areas prone to flooding or near waterways. The practical recommendations issued are as follows:

  • Limit car travel to urgent cases.
  • If you are in a basement or on the ground floor, move to an upper floor.
  • Do not cross underpasses or swollen waterways, and follow updates from the authorities.

The alert will end at 21:00 on Tuesday, while the improvement forecast for Sassari will begin gradually on Wednesday.
