Alghero-Fertilia Airport is strengthening its international connections with a new route to Germany. Starting from 4 June 2027, Discover Airlines will connect the airport in northern Sardinia directly with Munich.
The new flight will operate during the summer season until 29 October 2027, with two flights per week, scheduled every Monday and Friday.
The route will be operated with an Airbus A320, and tickets are already available through Discover Airlines and Lufthansa Group channels.
Discover Airlines debuts in Sardinia
For Discover Airlines, this is its first destination in Sardinia.
The Lufthansa Group leisure airline operates mainly from the Frankfurt and Munich hubs to European and intercontinental tourist destinations. With Alghero joining the network, the group is further expanding its presence on the island.
From Munich, in fact, Lufthansa Group already serves Olbia and Cagliari. Adding Alghero will also provide a direct connection between northwestern Sardinia and one of Europe’s main airport hubs.
Not just tourism: Munich opens the door to the Lufthansa network
The significance of the new route goes beyond a simple connection between Sardinia and Bavaria.
Munich Airport represents one of the Lufthansa Group’s main hubs and allows passengers to continue their journey to numerous European and international destinations.
For Sardinian passengers, this means new connection opportunities to destinations abroad, while for the Alghero area and the Sassarese region, the route may help improve accessibility for the German and European tourism market.
According to Discover Airlines, the route between Munich and Alghero will also be the only direct connection between the two airports included in the programme announced for summer 2027.
Alghero focuses on its 2027 connections
The new route comes at a time of expansion for the Catalan airport’s offering.
The return of domestic connections between Alghero, Cagliari and Olbia is also planned for 2027, with Aeroitalia intending to bring operations forward to June.

The connection with Munich adds a particularly significant international link: from 4 June 2027, Alghero will be directly integrated into the network of one of Europe’s largest airline groups, with two weekly flights throughout the summer season.
