Simone Faggioli won the 64th Alghero Scala Piccada on Sunday, October 18. Held on the State Road 292 course and organized by the Automobile Club Sassari, it was the Florentine driver’s fourth victory in the hill climb, driving the Nova Proto NP-01, and the second round of the national finals of the Italian Mountain Speed Championship. The race took place on a 5.1-kilometer course, from the outskirts of Alghero toward the Scala Piccada roadside house.

Faggioli set the tone for the event in the morning heat, establishing the race record of 2’18”92 at an average speed of 132.2 kilometers per hour. He also won the second climb, completed in 2’21”66, and finished with an overall time of 4’40”58. The victory came 21 years after his first win in Alghero, in 2005; the driver had already triumphed in the 2020 and 2023 editions.

The podium was completed by Mirko Torsellini, second, 5”37 behind, and Franco Caruso, third, 6”60 behind. Torsellini, the 2025 winner, competed with a new turbo engine making its debut. Achille Lombardi took fourth place in an Osella PA 30, Michele Gregori fifth, as the top finisher among sports cars with motorcycle engines, and Damiano Schena sixth. Sardinian driver Marco Satta finished tenth overall, making him the island’s highest-placed driver.

The event also drew praise for its course and organization. Totò Riolo, a member of the ACI Sport Hill Climb Commission, named the race as a candidate for greater visibility on the Supersalita calendar, describing the course as «one of the most beautiful courses there is» and highlighting its technical and scenic qualities. AC Sassari president Giulio Pes di San Vittorio thanked the organizers, volunteers, institutions, and partners, and highlighted the public turnout.

Faggioli said he had approached the second climb cautiously because the surface was more slippery. Torsellini said he was pleased with the progress made with the new engine, while Caruso dedicated his third place to his physical preparation and the enthusiasm of the spectators. The event took place from October 16 to 18, with Sunday's race heats scheduled to start at 9 a.m.
