The Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari are back in front of their home crowd straight away. On Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at 8:30 p.m., the blue-and-whites host Rinascita Basket Rimini, sponsored by Dole, at the PalaSerradimigni in the fifth round of Serie A2. After wins over Mestre and Cento, Luca Vitali’s team is looking for a third consecutive victory and further confirmation of its progress.
The matchup offers a significant test: Rimini was last season’s finalist, an opponent that the Sassari coach himself has described as a benchmark for measuring the team’s progress.
Dinamo on the rise: three wins and a deeper rotation
The 80-70 win over Sella Cento took Banco’s record to three wins and one loss, delivering the team’s first home win of the season. It builds on the 87-74 win on the road against Gemini Mestre and restores confidence around the team.
Against Cento, it was Alessandro Grande, with 22 points, who led the offense. The returns of Michele Vitali, immediately making an impact with 11 points, and Riccardo Pisano were also important, giving the bench more options.
The game did, however, provide a clear indication: a 15-point halftime lead did not stop the visitors from fighting back to 54-54. Sassari had the strength to regain control, but against Rimini it will need greater consistency in its offensive execution and intensity.
Rimini’s record remains unsettled ahead of the Mestre game
The picture for the Romagnoli is still taking shape. Before traveling to Sardinia, Sandro Dell’Agnello’s team must face Mestre at the Flaminio on Sunday, October 18, at 6 p.m.
In the first three rounds, Rimini recorded one win, 84-59 on the road against Montecatini, and two losses: 72-73 against Avellino and 78-66 against Fortitudo Bologna.
At the PalaDozza, however, Dole was still ahead at the end of the third quarter. This recent result is a reminder to look beyond the final margin: Rimini managed to stay in a demanding game, with Stephens, who had 14 points and 8 rebounds, and Udom, with 10 points, providing two important contributions.
The keys to the matchup and Grande’s return
For Banco, controlling the rebounds and making the most of possessions will be central. Limiting interruptions to their game, sharing responsibilities and making the most of the restored rotation are the ways to build on recent results.
The game will also have personal significance for Grande, a former Rimini player. Previewing the matchup, the point guard highlighted the opponents’ talent and the need to bring the Dinamo’s best version onto the court.
After Wednesday, Sassari will travel to Ruvo di Puglia on October 25. First, though, there is a chance to claim another win in front of their own fans.
