The Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari return to winning ways and claim their second win of the season in Serie A2. On Saturday, October 10, 2026, the biancoblù, coached by Luca Vitali, storm the PalaTaliercio, beating Gemini Mestre 74-87 after a game that remained closely contested for long stretches and was decided by the experienced players' plays down the stretch.
After their home defeat to Montecatini, Sassari get back to winning ways and confirm their positive away form, with two wins in their first two games away from the PalaSerradimigni.
Gemini Mestre-Dinamo Sassari: the game report
The game gets underway in an even contest. Mestre respond to Sassari's opening baskets and end the first quarter with a 27-25 lead, making the most of Lorenzo Calbini and Hasan Varence's offensive moves.
In the second quarter, Dinamo step it up thanks to contributions from Bryce Nze, Alessandro Monaldi and Jeff Brooks, who is back in action after missing the game against Montecatini. The biancoblù manage to build a small lead, but Calbini leads the home side's comeback.
A three-pointer by Monaldi in the final seconds sends Banco into the break up 48-50.
Aromando, Riismaa and Brooks lead Dinamo after the break
Back from the locker rooms, Sassari try to pick up the pace. Simone Aromando, one of the game's biggest former players, becomes one of the Giants' go-to scorers, while Sean Flood helps the biancoblù extend their lead.
Dinamo go up by 12 at 48-60, but Mestre refuse to give in and threaten again. Late in the third quarter, Joonas Riismaa hits an important three-pointer to make it 63-69.
In the final quarter, Sassari try to pull away again, but the home side manage to cut the deficit to 72-76.
At that point, the more experienced players step up. Jeff Brooks drains a huge three-pointer, followed by a basket from Aromando that gives Vitali's team some breathing room.
Aromando puts the game beyond doubt with a three-pointer in the final minute. Riismaa seals the deal with another three, before the final score of 74-87.
Dinamo Sassari's second Serie A2 win
The win in Mestre is an important response after the slip-up against Montecatini.
Luca Vitali's team now have two wins and one loss in their first three games, building on the positives from their opening-day win over Urania Milano.
Brooks' contribution is also significant: his return adds experience and leadership to a group still working to find greater consistency.
The win comes after a week in which coach Vitali had called for more grit and determination, especially in the way the team approaches games.
