Torres will take part in the third edition of the C Gold Award, the award dedicated to the leading figures of Serie C. The selection will involve 600 footballers from 60 clubs and, after an initial round of choices made by the sports press, will give fans a say: for the red-and-blue supporters, voting will run from December 7 to 18.
The initiative was devised and promoted by Affidabile.org and will get underway on Monday, October 26. Ten players will be selected for the Sassari team: one goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders and three forwards. The names will be chosen by the Lacasadic.com editorial team, which will assess the players’ individual performances and career paths from October 26 to 30.
The press will also select three players, one from each group, who will advance directly to the national final. The 600 nominees will be announced on November 9; voting by the public will then take place at different times for the three groups.
Voting for Group A will open on November 16. The phase for Group B, which includes Torres, is scheduled for December 7–18; voting for Group C will run from December 28 to January 10. During each phase, supporters can cast their votes and help the players in their bid to reach the final stage.
The key information on how to take part and the schedule is as follows:
- Voting for Group B is scheduled for December 7–18.
- The poll is free; each fan can select multiple players, but may vote only once for each team.
- The national final will take place from January 18 to 30, 2027.
The final phase will bring together the ten players with the most votes from each group and the three selected directly by the press: 33 finalists in total. For Torres, therefore, taking part in the award will not end with the initial selection of ten nominees: in December, Sassari fans will also be able to support them with their votes.
The 2025 edition received 11,099 votes from 4,292 fans. More than 70 percent of the selected players received at least one vote; the award went to Christian Dimarco of Aurora Pro Patria. The new edition therefore starts with a larger pool of voters, spread across the 60 clubs involved.
