The municipal tourist office of Castelsardo has taken second place in Sardinia in the surprise survey “Sabine’s Journey,” behind San Teodoro. The assessment, conducted across 25 destinations, gave the office 66 points out of 70 and examined the quality of the information provided to a potential visitor.
The test was conducted by Maurizio Battelli, a tourism expert and president of the Extra association. The simulated request came from a German tourist interested in arranging a stay in Castelsardo: the office therefore had to respond to a specific request for information about the destination, in order to assess the experience of contacting the tourist service.
The aspects considered included the promptness of the response, the quality and personalization of the information, and the attention given to the visitor. The score places the Castelsardo office among the top performers in the survey, which covered a sample of 25 Sardinian towns and was not an overall assessment of the destinations’ services or tourist offerings.
According to the survey, the office stood out for its fast response, the completeness of the information, and the range of tourism materials made available. These are all indicators of its ability to assist people planning a visit, providing information and useful tools to help them discover the village and arrange their stay.
Battelli presented the certificate of excellence to Elisabetta Bianco, coordinator of the tourist office. The deputy mayor and Tourism Councillor Giuseppe Ruzzu was also present at the presentation. He linked the recognition to the municipal administration’s efforts to improve the welcome visitors receive in the city.
“The municipal administration’s mission is to raise the overall standard of the welcome visitors receive in the city,” Ruzzu said. The councillor added that the award “shows that we are on the right track and moving forward with the right people and in the best possible way,” describing it as a recognition that honors the community.
The result comes during a tourist season that also saw good room occupancy rates. In September, Castelsardo came close to 90%: a figure reported in a previous report on the season, in which the municipality stated its aim of extending tourist activity with events in December and on New Year’s Eve. The “Sabine’s Journey” survey adds a specific finding on the quality of the welcome offered by the municipal tourist information office.
