Nighttime closures of the Chighizzu II tunnel, on the SS 131 Carlo Felice near Sassari will begin on Tuesday, October 6. The closures, scheduled for six nights between October 6 and 16, will allow the work required to install structural monitoring systems in the tunnel to be carried out.
Traffic will be stopped each night from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning. The closures will affect the carriageways in the directions of Sassari and Cagliari in turn, along the stretch between the Ossi-Tissi interchange and the Sassari-Viale Italia interchange. According to the announcement, traffic must be barred while the work is carried out.
The schedule covers the nights between Tuesday, October 6, and Wednesday, October 7, and between Wednesday, October 7, and Thursday, October 8, as well as the nights of the following week. The dates and directions affected are:
- between October 6 and 7, the carriageway towards Sassari;
- between October 7 and 8, the carriageway towards Cagliari;
- between October 12 and 13 and between October 13 and 14, towards Sassari;
- between October 14 and 15 and between October 15 and 16, towards Cagliari.
During closures towards Sassari, vehicles must exit at the Ossi-Tissi interchange, at kilometer 204.800, and continue on the SS 127 towards Sassari-Serra Secca. The route will continue along the urban road network, via Via Milano and Via Budapest, before rejoining the 131 at the Sassari-Viale Italia interchange, at kilometer 208.800.
Those travelling towards Cagliari will take the reverse route: exit at Sassari-Viale Italia, travel along the urban road network and State Road 127, then rejoin the Carlo Felice at the Ossi-Tissi interchange. The diversions will remain in effect for as long as it takes to complete the work.
