Enthusiasm, ambition and dynamism. Those are the three words Dinamo Banco di Sardegna have chosen to define the beginning of a new chapter in the club's history.

Following relegation, the Giants have officially unveiled the team that will compete in Serie A2 in 2026-27, with Jeff Brooks named captain just a few days later. Michele Vitali will serve as vice-captain.

Both players already know Sassari well and will be expected to embody the identity of the new Dinamo, both on and off the court.

Dinamo rebuild their connection with Sassari

The new team was officially presented on 11 August at Acrisure's headquarters, with the club's management, coaching staff and players in attendance. The only absentee was Joonas Riismaa, who was away on international duty with Estonia.

CEO Francesco Sardara made one of the club's priorities for the new season clear: reconnecting Dinamo with their supporters after a particularly difficult campaign.

It is not just about results, then. The club wants to rebuild its relationship with Sassari and Sardinia as a whole, bringing the team and its supporters closer together and restoring the sense of community that has long surrounded the Biancoblù.

With that in mind, the decision to hold pre-season preparations in Sassari for the first time in ten years and play most of the team's pre-season friendlies on the island is no coincidence.

Vitali: enthusiasm and ambition

Head coach Luca Vitali has identified two concepts that will underpin the team's work: enthusiasm and ambition.

The first will be essential in moving on from the disappointment of relegation. The second will ensure the team never settles for less than its best.

The aim is to build a group capable of working hard while also creating a family atmosphere, where players and staff can support and look out for one another.

Sporting director Paolo Citrini added a third word: dynamism. Not only on the court, but also in the relationship between the club, the city and the wider region.

Another important part of the new project will involve players from the club's youth academy, with Riccardo Pisano highlighted as a tangible example of a pathway that began within Dinamo's youth system and ultimately led back to the first team.

Jeff Brooks is the new captain

On Thursday, 13 August, one of the most symbolic decisions of the new season was also announced.

Jeff Brooks will captain Dinamo Sassari in 2026-27.

The American-born, naturalised Italian forward will once again take on a central role at the club where he was part of the historic 2014-15 treble-winning season.

During the team presentation, Brooks had already identified four qualities that he believes must define the new squad: unity, family, togetherness and competitiveness.

His experience and familiarity with the Sassari environment led coach Vitali and his staff to select him as the team's leading figure.

Michele Vitali named vice-captain

Alongside Brooks will be Michele Vitali, who has been named vice-captain.

For Vitali, too, this marks a return to the Biancoblù. His role will be to support Brooks in leading the group and representing the team both on and off the court.

The decision makes Dinamo's direction clear: the club is putting its trust in experienced players with strong personalities and, above all, an existing understanding of what it means to play for Sassari.

A season of rebuilding

The Serie A2 campaign will be long and demanding, with a 38-game regular season and numerous midweek fixtures.

But even before the battle on the court begins, the new Dinamo appear to have set themselves another objective: rebuilding what was damaged during the previous season.

The relationship with the supporters, the sense of belonging and the connection between the team and the city that for years represented one of the greatest strengths of the Biancoblù project.

Jeff Brooks and Michele Vitali will be the first reference points of this new era.

The road back to the top begins in Serie A2. But first and foremost, Dinamo want to start again from Sassari.
