The Dinamo Sassari need to find consistency again. After the 67-84 home loss to Rimini, Banco also fell away to Ruvo di Puglia, losing 79-63. Two consecutive defeats bring the record back to even: three wins, three losses and six points in the first six rounds.

There is still a long way to go in the season, but the recent performances call for attention. The team coached by Luca Vitali needs to respond not only in terms of results but, above all, by showing it can remain competitive throughout the game.

A response in Ruvo that wasn’t enough

The defeat at the PalaColombo leaves regrets over a comeback that began, then was cut short almost immediately. After a balanced first quarter, which ended 15-15, Sassari lost ground and went into halftime trailing 36-27.

After the break, Banco managed to close the gap to 48-43, showing it could get back into the game. But the response was too brief: Ruvo regained control and ended the third quarter ahead 57-43.

In the final quarter, the blue-and-whites tried once more to come back, but the home side found the answers needed to protect its lead. The efforts of Alessandro Grande and the presence of Bryce Nze, who had 17 points and 13 rebounds, were not enough to change the outcome.

An inconsistent offense and a defense to rediscover

The main concern is the difficulty in maintaining consistency in the team’s play. The 63 points scored in Ruvo tell the story of an offense that struggled to produce consistently. Individual bursts kept the game open at times, but never developed into a sustained collective response.

The defense also needs to be more solid. When opponents build a lead, catching up becomes even harder if offensive possessions fail to produce points.

This is where Banco needs to make improvements: ball movement, defensive rotations and handling difficult stretches. Clear progress is needed in decision-making and execution, along with contributions spread more evenly among the players.

Six points, but no definitive judgments

The record after the first six rounds merits reflection, but it does not justify passing judgment on the season. Two consecutive defeats are a real setback; their impact will also depend on the response in the coming weeks.

It would be unhelpful to downplay the situation, just as it would be to turn every difficulty into a definitive judgment. Dinamo have already shown they can win and must regain the balance that enabled them to achieve those results.

Confidence is rebuilt through more solid performances, possession by possession. There is time to get back on track, but it must be used to address the problems that have emerged.

Caserta offers the first chance to get back on track

The next game on the Dinamo’s Serie A2 schedule is set for Sunday, November 1 at 6 p.m.: Juvecaserta will visit the PalaSerradimigni in the seventh round.

For Banco, this will be a chance to end the losing streak and regain confidence in front of its home fans. The team will need to respond to mistakes without losing its composure, share offensive responsibilities and maintain its intensity even when shots are not falling.

The response everyone is waiting for depends on these factors. Caserta will provide the first test.
