The municipality of Sassari is participating in the European Heritage Days, scheduled for September 26 and 27, 2026, offering a program of visits dedicated to places that symbolize the city's identity and history. The initiatives, organized by the Culture sector, aim to enhance local heritage through guided tours available by reservation.
The city walls and Monte d'Accoddi
Saturday September 26, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., an event dedicated to the medieval city walls will take place, starting from Piazza Mercato. Art historian Francesco Ledda will lead a group of up to 40 people in an analysis of the construction history of this 13th-century complex, also illustrating the recovery projects for the Torre Tonda and the Torre di Corso Trinità, which are fundamental to regenerating the historic center.
On the same day, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., archaeologist Domenica Lissia will lead a thematic visit to the Monte d'Accoddi archaeological area. The appointment, reserved for a maximum of 80 participants, will delve into the characteristics of the megalithic monument and the protection and accessibility interventions funded through the PNRR, aimed at improving the site's reception and protection.
Sanna Museum and access methods
Sunday, September 27, the program continues with the opening of the G. A. Sanna National Museum, open from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. At 11 a.m., a guided tour will begin, without the need for a reservation, focusing on the conservation of artifacts during the Second World War, based on archival sources from the 1939-1945 period. The museum is a fundamental stop for those wishing to discover what to see in Sassari.
