The Raimond Sassari won 33-19 away to Salumificio Riva Molteno on Saturday, October 24, in the eighth round of the Serie A Gold regular season. It was the Rossoblù’s sixth league win: the team moved up to 13 points with the victory and retained sole possession of first place in the standings.
The match began with the visitors making a strong start: Pugliese and Jarlstam, along with Lubinati’s saves, put Raimond 0-2 up in the fourth minute. Molteno responded with four consecutive goals, turning the score around to 4-2 in the ninth minute through Martins. The opening phase then continued with errors and lost possession on both sides.
The home side went 9-7 ahead through Trost, but the Sassari team levelled the score thanks to Bargelli and Pugliese. The contest remained evenly balanced until the closing stages of the first half: after De La Santa made it 13-11 in the 26th minute, Delogu and Pugliese helped Raimond go into the break leading 15-12.
The turning point came after the teams returned to the court. Two goals from Pugliese and one from De La Santa extended the lead to 18-12 in the 34th minute, setting the tone for a second half that clearly favoured the Rossoblù. Molteno was unable to close the gap, and Raimond continued to find space in attack.
Raul Bargelli was the match’s top scorer with 12 goals; Davide Pugliese scored six. Diagne, De La Santa, Furtado and Jarlstam also scored three goals apiece for the Sassari team, while Delogu, Mouriño and Ben Hiba found the net as well. Furtado gave his side a double-digit lead in the 51st minute, making it 26-16.
The final score was 33-19, with Ratko Durkovic’s team consolidating the lead they had built before the break in the second half. The away win came after the build-up covered in the preview of the Molteno game, the Rossoblù’s eighth league fixture.
The Raimond scoresheet also lists Jarlstam, Diagne and Furtado with three goals each, De La Santa with three, and Delogu, Mouriño and Ben Hiba with one apiece. Salumificio Riva Molteno’s top scorer was Bonanomi, with four goals; Trost, Cioni and De Angelis scored three each.
The Sassari team’s next fixture is scheduled for Tuesday, October 27: Raimond will make up its game against Conversano at PalaSantoru. The match completes the Rossoblù’s schedule following their trip to Molteno and gives the team a chance to return to action in front of their home crowd.
