Watching races is all well and good. Taking to the track is better.

Sunday, September 13, 2026 will see La Kartata Sarda arrive in the Cagliari area, a day dedicated to motorsport fans organized by XRace together with FlopGear and La Ragazza del Motorsport.

The event will take place at Sardinia Kart Indoor in Monastir, with check-in from 9:30 a.m. and a program combining karting races, games, entertainment and, in the afternoon, a group viewing of the Madrid Formula 1 Grand Prix.

A real race, even for those who have never raced before

You don't have to be an experienced driver to take part.

The competition will use the kart track's Sodi SR4 270cc karts, and participants will be divided into categories based on their performance, bringing together drivers with similar skill levels.

The format includes:

  • 10 minutes of qualifying
  • Race 1: 10 laps
  • Race 2: 8 laps

The program will begin at 9:30 a.m. with check-in and registration, followed by the briefing at 10. Qualifying is scheduled for 10:30, Race 1 for 11:30 and Race 2 for 12:30.

After the races, there will be a surprise activity and lunch, before attention shifts from karts to single-seaters.

Everyone in front of the Madrid GP at 3 p.m.

The date was not chosen at random.

On September 13, Formula 1 will race for the first time on Madrid's new Madring circuit, venue of the 2026 Spanish Grand Prix.

The start is scheduled for 3 p.m., exactly when the group viewing of the race will begin at the kart track.

First, participants will compete against one another on the track; then they'll become fans again to see how those who, at least in theory, should know how to do it better get on.

FlopGear: motorsport not taken too seriously

One of the day's leading figures will be FlopGear, a community that covers Formula 1 and motorsport by mixing information, memes and a healthy dose of irony.

The project provocatively defines itself as “unreliable sports information” and over the years has built a community around a less formal way of experiencing racing.

In Cagliari, the move from social media to the track will be quite literal: no sofa commentary, at least for a few hours, but a helmet on and the stopwatch running.

La Ragazza del Motorsport: Nicoletta Floris returns to the track in Sardinia

Rounding out the day will be Maria Nicoletta Floris, known on social media as La Ragazza del Motorsport.

A native of Cagliari and a motorsport enthusiast, through her channels she mainly covers Formula 1, MotoGP, endurance racing and other motorsport categories, continuing a project she began years ago with the goal of sharing this passion with other enthusiasts.

For La Kartata Sarda, it will therefore practically be a home event, joining FlopGear and XRace in the activities organized throughout the day.

How much does it cost to take part

Registration costs a total of 69.90 euros.

To secure a place on the starting grid, you must complete an online pre-registration costing 29.90 euros, while the remaining 40 euros will be paid directly at the track on the day of the event.

You don't need to own racing gear: all you need is comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes and the desire to race. Helmets are provided by the organizers.

Friends and companions can also join the day without necessarily taking to the track.

A day for Sardinia's motorsport community

La Kartata Sarda therefore aims to be more than just a karting session.

The goal is to bring the Sardinian motorsport community together in one place, turning for a day the passion experienced through television and social media into something tangible.

First qualifying. Then two races. Finally, everyone together in front of the Grand Prix.

On September 13, at least for a few hours, Formula 1 will only be watched after everyone has shown what they're made of on the track.
