The 2026/2027 Serie C season for Torres begins with a defeat. At the Armando Picchi Stadium Livorno come from behind to win 2-1, scoring the decisive goal only in stoppage time after a match in which the Rossoblù had made a confident start.
The side coached by Alfonso Greco take the lead through Lorenzo Di Stefano and create several chances, especially in the first half, but are pegged back by a penalty converted by Samuel Di Carmine. Then, late on, Mawete delivers the cruel blow.
Di Stefano puts Torres ahead
Torres make a convincing start. After just two minutes, Zecca hits the post, while shortly afterwards Di Stefano causes further problems for the Amaranto defence.
The Sassarese side continue to press and in the 30th minute find the deserved opener: Di Stefano receives the ball on the edge of the area and fires an angled shot past Martinez to make it 0-1.
Livorno react and, shortly before half-time, get the incident that changes the match. The referee awards a penalty for Pennington’s challenge on Aramu. Di Carmine makes no mistake from the spot and puts Livorno level at 1-1 in the 44th minute.
Mawete decides the match in stoppage time
The match becomes more balanced after the break. Torres try to threaten again through Di Stefano, while Livorno’s pressure grows as the minutes pass.
When the draw seems destined to hold until the final whistle, the decisive incident arrives.
In stoppage time, Mawete finds the net to make it 2-1. The goal is initially disallowed for offside, but Livorno request the intervention of Football Video Support. After the review, referee Alessandro Silvestri awards the goal.
For Torres, it is a cruel defeat in the final minutes, especially considering that the Rossoblù had created the better chances in the first half.
Greco’s side therefore leave the Picchi without any points, but with several positive indications in terms of their performance. They still need to improve their ability to turn promising moments into results and manage the decisive phases of matches: the championship has only just begun, but the first verdict goes Livorno’s way.
