A day of prevention featuring breast examinations, Pap tests and information on cancer screenings will take place on Saturday, October 24 in the Sacro Cuore district of Sassari. The initiative, which is free of charge and requires no appointment for breast examinations, is promoted by Lilt and Asd Bocciofila Sacro Cuore, in collaboration with the Sassari Local Health Authority.
The event, entitled “Together for Prevention”, is part of the fifth edition of “With the Pink Ribbon”, an event taking place over the weekend of October 24 and 25. The national women’s bowls competition is scheduled for Sunday, October 25; the day dedicated to check-ups and information is scheduled for Saturday.
Free breast examinations will be available throughout the day with Lilt’s volunteer specialists. Clinical examinations help identify any changes in the breast and assess whether further tests are needed. Alongside healthcare services, the initiative also includes awareness-raising activities, such as the one held in early October with the Prevention Citadel.
The Pap test is for eligible women aged 25 to 64 and will take place at the family health clinic. Staff will also be at the Bocciofila to provide information and take bookings for screenings for breast, cervical and colorectal cancer. There will also be a psycho-oncology information point and a space for caregivers, offering listening and guidance services for people with cancer and their families.
The day is being organized in conjunction with the sporting event and aims to offer the public opportunities for prevention and information about screening pathways. Lilt will be present throughout the event at the Bocciofila Sacro Cuore, where visitors can get information about the activities and how to access the services.
