Torres are preparing for their away trip to face Pescara, scheduled for Saturday 31 October at the Adriatico Stadium, without Giuseppe Mastinu after the serious injury he sustained against Guidonia. At a press conference on Thursday 29 October, coach Alfonso Greco said the team are ready to take on the match while maintaining the spirit they showed in their last outing.

Greco said the injury had affected the group, especially because of their personal bond with the player, whom he described as a point of reference. On 26 October, the club announced that tests had revealed fractures to two cervical vertebrae; further assessments were still underway. The coach said the information he had received seemed less worrying than expected and that it would take about a month to reach firmer conclusions: these were his words, not a medical prognosis.

The coach said Mastinu had asked his teammates not to give up and that the group wanted to turn this message into motivation. Against a side that, according to Greco, has been built to win the league, Torres will look to play their own game and give themselves a chance. In the coach’s view, their approach must not change even during a spell marked by absences: character is important, but the team also have technical quality.

Among those unavailable, Pennington and Nunziatini have resumed running and are further along in their recovery than some of their teammates. Greco hopes to have them back in two weeks, after the match against Latina. Sorrentino, however, faces a lengthy recovery. As for Scotto, the coach explained that he could potentially recover in time for the next match after Pescara, against Latina; Di Stefano is not expected back before three matches have been played.

The team selection will also depend on how things go in training. Greco named Corsinelli as a possible option in midfield and pointed to Zecca’s versatility, noting that he can also play as a striker. The team are considering possible changes without abandoning their usual approach.
