Dinamo Sassari take on JuveCaserta on Sunday, 1 November at PalaSerradimigni, in the seventh round of Serie A2. Ahead of the game, coach Luca Vitali has called on the team to show character in front of their home crowd, paying particular attention to defensive solidity and decision-making in attack.

Caserta are coming off a home win and, according to Vitali, have versatile players and a fast-paced offense. The biancoblù will need to contain their transition play and maintain defensive balance. “We want to be ready and throw our hearts over the obstacle to send a strong message. From the start right through to the end,” said the coach, describing the attitude the team must maintain throughout the game.

Defense has been the focus of the team’s work this week. “We’re getting beaten too easily, and that’s what we’re working on,” Vitali explained, stressing the need to increase physicality and intensity: disrupting passes and denying opponents easy shots could, in the coach’s view, make them less effective.

The game comes after two consecutive defeats: on 21 October, Sassari lost at home 67-84 to Rimini, while on 25 October they were beaten 79-63 away by Ruvo di Puglia. Vitali did not describe the game as a crossroads and also pointed to the difficulties caused by injuries during the preseason. The priority, he added, is to focus on the game and show “a different spirit to our fans,” before thinking about the result. Dinamo therefore have a chance to bounce back in front of their own fans after a run of poor results, as also covered in the article about the two consecutive defeats.

The coach said the team had worked well this week and praised the players’ sense of belonging and commitment. Bryce Nze is also expecting an energetic start: “I expect the team to play hard from the get-go and the group to put on a great show of strength in front of our fans.” The forward said they would need intensity and composure, as well as a higher defensive tempo to create opportunities in attack.
