The Torres returned to winning ways in front of their home fans. At the Vanni Sanna on Sunday, October 25, the Rossoblù beat Guidonia Montecelio 2-0 in the eleventh round of Group B in Serie C. The goals came from Cristian Bunino in the 18th minute and Michele Carboni in the 55th, one in each half.
Alfonso Greco’s team Alfonso Greco responds to its defeat to Reggiana, moves up to 18 points and preserves its unbeaten home record. The win takes the Sassarese side above the Lazio team in the standings; Guidonia had arrived in Sardinia one point ahead.
Bunino breaks the deadlock
The opening goal comes in the 18th minute: after a challenge between Brentan and Celeghin, the ball hits the post and Bunino is on hand to turn it in from close range. A check requested by Guidonia does not change the decision.
The first half also brings cause for concern: Mastinu has to leave the field after falling during an aerial challenge. Giorico comes on in his place.
Before the break, Masala comes close to doubling the lead, but Drago saves. Torres therefore go into the dressing room 1-0 up, in a contest in which the visitors have already looked for a response.
Carboni doubles the lead, Zaccagno protects it
The second goal comes after the break. In the 55th minute, Corsinelli sets up Carboni, who beats a defender and finishes the move to make it 2-0.
Guidonia try to get back into the game, while Torres look for space to score a third. Late on, Zaccagno makes some important saves, including one from Vertainen’s shot. The score remains unchanged.
Three points to get back on track after Reggio Emilia
Returning to the Vanni Sanna gives Torres the points they missed out on in their previous away game. In Reggio Emilia, the Rossoblù had created chances without scoring; against Guidonia, they find the net twice and keep a clean sheet.
Their record now stands at five wins, three draws and three defeats in eleven rounds. Home advantage continues to underpin Greco’s side’s campaign: before this Sunday, their last home win had been a 2-1 victory over Atalanta Under 23. Now they claim another win, helping them get their campaign back on track after last round’s setback.
