The Torres return to the Vanni Sanna. On Saturday August 29, 2026 at 18:00 the red-and-blues will face Sambenedettese on the second matchday of Serie C's Group B, in the first home game of the new season.

For Alfonso Greco's team, it will be an opportunity to react immediately after the defeat suffered on their debut against Livorno. At the Picchi, Torres had taken the lead through Lorenzo Di Stefano, before being pegged back by Di Carmine and overtaken in stoppage time by Mawete's goal.

It was a bitter defeat, coming after a performance in which the Sassarese side had nevertheless shown positive signs, especially in the first part of the match.

Sambenedettese come in off a draw

Sambenedettese have also already found the net on the opening matchday. The team from the Marche region began their league campaign with a 2-2 home draw against Forlì, managing to find an equaliser in the closing stages of the match.

Also taking the Coppa Italia into account, Samb arrive in Sassari still unbeaten in their first official matches of the season, while Torres will be seeking their first positive result after defeats against Spezia and Livorno.

Greco must also continue to monitor the situation regarding the unavailable players. Daniele Sorrentino is recovering from the left-knee sprain suffered against Spezia, while the condition of Ayman Sanat, who was sidelined by mild adductor fatigue, has been described by the club as requiring day-to-day assessment.

A renovated Vanni Sanna for the first home game

The match against Sambenedettese will also be the first official game on the new Vanni Sanna pitch, renovated over the summer.

The club had specifically identified the home debut against the team from the Marche region as the occasion for returning to the pitch at the Sassari stadium.

The most recent meeting in Sassari does not bring back good memories, however: in the 2025/2026 season, Sambenedettese won 2-0 at the Vanni Sanna. Torres then managed to get their revenge in the return fixture, winning 2-1 in San Benedetto del Tronto.
