Fallu Fabiddà is back in Sassari, Fallu Fabiddà, the free Sassarese-language course promoted by the Ischora di Sassaresu association and the Sardinian Trade Union Confederation (CSS). The lessons, taught by teacher Fabritziu Dettori, will begin on Wednesday, October 28 in the classroom at the former education office at Corso Francesco Cossiga 6.

The initiative, titled “Fallu Fabiddà 2026-27”, is open to everyone and will take place weekly. The association presents the course as an opportunity to get closer to the language through interactive lessons and an immersive approach, with the aim of providing a space where people can learn to speak Sassarese without feeling embarrassed. Participation is free, but places are limited.

For those wishing to arrange their participation, the information provided by the organizers is as follows:

  • When: every Wednesday, from 5:45 to 7:15 p.m., starting October 28.
  • Where: classroom at the former education office, Corso Francesco Cossiga 6, next to middle school no. 2.
  • How to sign up: email [email protected] with your first name, last name and mobile phone number.
  • Priority: priority will be given to teachers, parents and grandparents from I.C. San Giuseppe.

The course is dedicated to teacher Gabriella Oggiano, who taught Sassarese to the children at San Giuseppe primary school. The dedication links the project to the educational work carried out at the school and to passing the language on to new generations. For the 2026-27 edition, the priority given to teachers and family members from I.C. San Giuseppe maintains a direct connection with that school community.

According to the association, the initiative is self-funded by Ischora di Sassaresu and relies on the voluntary, unpaid collaboration of the people who run it. The project therefore goes beyond introducing the language in lessons: it aims to keep alive a shared learning space, open to anyone who wants to become familiar with Sassarese and use it in conversation. The sessions are designed to encourage a practical, participatory approach in which learning takes place through immersion in the language.

The lessons take place during the 2026/27 school year, for which classes in Sardinia are scheduled to resume in September: the regional school calendar can be consulted. To take part in Fallu Fabiddà, the practical step is to sign up by email with the requested details; priority is given to teachers and family members of pupils at I.C. San Giuseppe.
