The summer holidays are also entering their final stretch for students in Sassari and Sardinia. The regional school calendar sets Wednesday, September 16, 2026 as the start of classes in schools of all levels on the Island.
The school year will end on June 8, 2027, while activities in preschools will continue until June 30.
A total of 204 days of classes are scheduled, reduced to 203 if the patron saint's feast day falls on a school day.
Christmas and Easter holidays: the dates
The first long break will come with the Christmas holidays, scheduled from December 23 to 31, 2026, and from January 2 to 5, 2027. Taking New Year's Day and Epiphany into account, students will therefore ordinarily return to class after January 6.
Other breaks established by the regional calendar include November 2, 2026, on the occasion of All Souls' Day, which was added through a subsequent amendment to the calendar.
Classes will also be suspended on February 9, 2027, Shrove Tuesday.
For Easter, meanwhile, classes will be suspended from March 25 to 27, as well as on March 30, the Tuesday following Easter Monday.
Sa Die de sa Sardigna and the other holidays
Another date to mark on the calendar is April 28, 2027, when schools will remain closed for Sa Die de sa Sardigna.
These dates are naturally joined by national holidays, including December 8, December 25 and 26, New Year's Day, Epiphany, April 25, May 1 and June 2.
The calendar also leaves a number of days at the disposal of individual School Councils.
Pay attention to individual school calendars
September 16 is the regional reference date, but it is not necessarily the first day of school for every student.
Thanks to school autonomy, individual schools can adapt the calendar to their own needs, bringing forward the start of classes or changing certain days of suspension. In Sassari, for example, some schools have already approved an earlier return.
Families and students are therefore advised to check the calendar published by their school before the start of the new school year.
