The Sports and Legality Day will take place on Wednesday, October 28, from 9 a.m., in the outdoor areas of San Donato school, on Via Fontana, in Sassari. The event, organized by the Municipal Police, will involve around 250 pupils from primary and lower secondary schools in the morning, with activities focused on sport, legality, the environment and solidarity. Stands and activities will continue throughout the day, and will be open to the public of all ages.
The event aims to highlight sport as an opportunity for learning and social interaction. Through games and shared activities, it seeks to promote respect for rules, cooperation and inclusion, strengthening ties between institutions, residents and the local area. San Donato has already been the focus of initiatives to create places for people to meet, including the little square of San Donato, conceived as a community space in the historic center.
The Municipal Police will be on hand with a workshop on legality and sports activities aimed especially at young people. An area will also be devoted to the new environmental education campaign, to raise children’s and young people’s awareness of protecting the environment, caring for shared spaces and adopting responsible behavior. Entertainment and opportunities to meet with officers are also planned throughout the day.
- Basketball and football, with activities designed to introduce children to sport.
- A workshop on legality and an area dedicated to environmental education.
- Toys to be awarded by raffle among the children in attendance.
- Thor and Ares, dogs from the Municipal Police canine unit.
Thor and Ares will give participants the chance to meet the animals used in the department’s work and learn about their contribution to its service. The dogs’ presence is also intended to encourage a positive relationship with animals. The toy raffle, meanwhile, will add a festive moment of solidarity for the youngest attendees.
Municipal Police Commander Gianni Serra presented the event as an opportunity for community, listening and educational opportunities for the next generation. Mayor Giuseppe Mascia linked the event to the opportunity to bring the historic center to life and foster dialogue between its residents and the rest of the city. After the morning program, aimed in particular at students, activities will continue throughout the day for people of all ages.
