A new free dog microchipping session is scheduled in Sassari on Wednesday, October 28, from 9 to 11, at the premises of the former district office on Via Poligono. The initiative is promoted by the Sassari Local Health Authority and the Municipality’s Environment Department as part of efforts to combat stray animals. No appointment is needed.
Admission will be limited to 40 dogs, admitted in order of arrival. Priority will be given to owners who live or are domiciled in the Municipality of Sassari. Each owner may bring up to four animals; any dogs over this limit may undergo the procedure only at the end of the session and if microchips are still available.
To allow the procedure to be carried out, owners must bring the required documents and ensure that their dogs are fit to attend. Animals must be free of fleas, ticks and other parasites. Large dogs or dogs that may be aggressive must wear a muzzle.
- The owner’s personal identification document and tax code.
- Dog registration form, downloadable from the Municipality’s website in the “Environment” section, printed double-sided and completed in the section for the owner.
- A maximum of four dogs per owner; any additional dogs will be considered only after the others and if microchips are still available.
A microchip is a device that makes it possible to identify a dog and trace its owner if the animal is lost or stolen. Implanting one is a legal requirement and helps combat stray animals. The appointment is part of the Municipality’s animal welfare initiatives, alongside other local measures such as the care of stray cats.
