The “Giovanni Antonio Sanna” National Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum in Sassari will remember Elisabetta Grassi with an evening event scheduled for Friday, November 6, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. At the end of the event, the education room will be named after the director, who passed away in 2025. The museum is hosting an event dedicated to her work and her passion for archaeology.

Grassi directed the Sanna Museum from 2020 to 2025 and was regarded as a respected professional and scholar. During her tenure, construction projects were completed that made it possible to reopen several pavilions with new displays. The work launched a process of renewal at the museum, which continues with further projects and initiatives to promote its collections.

Her leadership came as the museum resumed activity after years of construction work: in 2022, the museum reopened with a new display. In 2026, the redesigned Marcialis Pavilion, dedicated to Grassi’s memory, was also inaugurated. The November 6 memorial is therefore also linked to the changes that have taken place at the museum and to the director’s contribution to its revival.

The evening will be more than an official ceremony. The event aims to bring the public together around Grassi’s values and dedication, with a particular focus on museum education, a subject close to her heart, on dialogue between different art forms, and on the involvement of local communities and younger generations. The program will include live music and readings, presented by local cultural organizations that had previously worked with the director to promote the area’s historical heritage.

Taking part will be the Polifonica Santa Cecilia Sassari and the Quiteria association. Naming the education room after Grassi will bring the evening to a close and keep her name associated with a space in the museum devoted to learning and visitor activities. A guide to Sassari’s museums is also available to help visitors explore the city’s museums.
