From October 23 to 25 the terrace of Sassari’s Civic Market will host the second edition of the Shardana Trophy - Antonio Demontis Memorial. The event, organized by Asd Boxing Team Erittu with AutoA and Autonoleggi De Montis, will bring international bouts and an interregional tournament to the historic center.

The national U23 teams of Italy, Belgium and Switzerland will face off in the ring. The Italian athletes will take on opponents of the same age and weight from the Belgian and Swiss teams. Alongside the international bouts, a Sardinia-Lazio tournament is planned, with the participation of boxers from Sassari, the metropolitan area and other parts of the island.

The three-day event is also designed as an opportunity to bring boxing closer to the city and engage a range of audiences. The program, which is still being finalized, will complement the matches with activities promoting the sport and initiatives focused on health, social interaction and preventing bullying. Gym boxing, sparring, games and activities for younger participants are planned, with the aim of presenting sport as a tool for education, integration and well-being.

Culture, entertainment, storytelling and performances will also take place alongside the ring. The aim is to turn the terrace into a meeting place open to the community and make the event part of life in the historic center, using a symbolic urban space for a program that brings together sport and participation. The choice of the Civic Market is also linked to projects to promote the market and the heart of the city.

The memorial will honor Antonio Demontis, a boxing enthusiast and a figure associated with Boxing Team Erittu. The event aims to preserve his memory through boxing, a sport to which he was connected by his relationships with people and his belief that sport could forge bonds. The trophy will take place on the terrace of the Civic Market, in the historic center of Sassari.
