The Torres claimed a hard-fought victory at the Vanni Sanna. On matchday four of Serie C’s Group B, the rossoblù defeated Ostiamare 3-2 at the end of a complicated game, overturned in the second half thanks to Lorenzo Di Stefano’s hat-trick. The success takes the Sassari side to six points and confirms their positive record in matches played in front of their home crowd.

After a difficult first half, which ended with Ostiamare ahead and Torres unable to express their game consistently, the team returned to the pitch with a different attitude. Greco also adjusted the setup on the wings, changing Masala and Lunghi’s positions, while the substitutions gave the rossoblù’s play further energy.

Greco: “A hugely important victory”

In the press room, the coach mainly highlighted the group’s ability to react to negative incidents and stay in the game until the final whistle: “Today it was a team victory, a victory of character. The lads did not let themselves be discouraged by the adverse incidents and came out in the second half determined to turn the game around”. Greco acknowledged that the start had not been brilliant, but emphasised the team’s improvement after going behind and their ability to create chances more consistently.

The coach then defended Pennington, who has had a difficult start to the season and was substituted at half-time. “I believe in him and have complete faith in him. He has changed the way he plays and arrived after years in Australia: it is normal that he still needs to settle in. There is no Pennington issue”, Greco explained, urging people to consider the midfielder’s adaptation process without turning the moment into an internal problem for the team.

The club’s message on Di Stefano

The absolute protagonist of the game was Di Stefano, scorer of the three goals that allowed Torres to complete the comeback. The striker confirmed his importance to the team’s attacking play and prompted Greco to make an appeal to the club: “We need to secure him: it would be a great move and an important asset for the club. I know they are working on it; now he must keep going like this”.

Torres have no time to stop and celebrate, however. On Wednesday 16 September, at 6:30 p.m., the rossoblù will return to the Vanni Sanna to face Pianese. The schedule therefore offers another quick-fire home fixture, useful for building on the comeback against Ostiamare and consolidating the path begun in the opening matchdays.Read more about the eve of the match with Greco’s words and reread the match report featuring Di Stefano’s decisive hat-trick.
