The Torres return to winning ways, doing so at the end of a match packed with incidents. At the Vanni Sanna, the Rossoblù overcame Ostiamare 3-2 on matchday four of Serie C’s Group B, responding to their first-half deficit thanks to an extraordinary hat-trick from Lorenzo Di Stefano.
For Alfonso Greco’s side, this was an important response after the heavy 2-0 defeat away to Grosseto. Torres therefore move up to six points after four matchdays, with both of their wins coming in front of their home crowd.
Parigini puts Ostiamare ahead, Scotto misses from the spot
The match quickly becomes complicated for Sassari.
In the 16th minute, Ostiamare won a penalty after Pennington’s challenge on Tonin. From the spot, Vittorio Parigini beat Zaccagno to put the Lazio side ahead.
Torres tried to respond but struggled to find consistency in the final third. However, the biggest chance arrived at the end of the first half: the referee awarded the Rossoblù a penalty after a review by Football Video Support.
Luigi Scotto stepped up, but Vertua read the shot and saved it. The teams therefore went into the dressing rooms with Ostiamare leading 1-0.
Di Stefano changes the game with three goals
The game changes after the break.
Greco brought on Giuseppe Mastinu, and Torres gradually increased the pressure and quality of their play. After several chances were kept out by Vertua, Lorenzo Di Stefano equalised, finding the corner with a shot from the edge of the box.
Just a few minutes later, the number 7 struck again: played through by Scotto, Di Stefano rounded Vertua to complete the comeback.
The undisputed star of the day was not finished yet.
Late on came his third goal of the game, at the end of a move built down the wing and finished from close range. The hat-trick put Torres 3-1 up and sent the Vanni Sanna into raptures.
Badje brings Ostiamare back into the game late on
Ostiamare refused to give up and, in the final minutes, found the 3-2 through Badje, who made a clever run into the box and headed past Zaccagno.
During the lengthy stoppage time, the Lazio side also called for a Football Video Support review for a possible penalty. After reviewing the incident, however, the referee found no grounds to award it.
Torres held on until the final whistle and secured three valuable points.
Di Stefano leads Torres to six points
The victory allows the Rossoblù to immediately put the disappointing trip to Grosseto behind them, as recounted in our feature on Grosseto-Torres 2-0.
The standout performer was inevitably Lorenzo Di Stefano, scorer of all three Sassari goals and the decisive figure in turning a difficult match into a victory.

Pianese arrive on Wednesday
Torres will not have much time to celebrate.
The Serie C schedule already has Wednesday 16 September at 18:30 set aside for another home fixture against Pianese, valid for matchday five.
Before then, however, the value of a comeback victory during a delicate phase of the season remains: Torres 3, Ostiamare 2, with Di Stefano the undisputed star of the Rossoblù Sunday.
