There was barely time to put the win over Ostiamare behind them before Torres are already back in action. On Wednesday, September 16 at 6:30 p.m. the Rossoblù will host Pianese at the Vanni Sanna, on matchday five of Group B in Serie C.

The team coached by Alfonso Greco come into the match after a thrilling 3-2 win over Ostiamare, decided by Lorenzo Di Stefano’s hat-trick. The victory took the Sassari side to six points after four matchdays, with both wins coming in front of their home fans.

After a start to the season marked by mixed results, the midweek fixture therefore represents an opportunity to build on Sunday’s comeback and improve their position in the table even further.

Pianese still searching for their first win

On the other side is a Pianese side who have not yet won in the league.

The team coached by Andrea Zanchetta have collected two points from their first four matches, thanks to goalless draws against Vado and Grosseto. They have also suffered two defeats, against Campobasso and Guidonia Montecelio.

The most notable statistic concerns their attack: after four matchdays, Pianese are the only team in Group B yet to score, with no goals scored and three conceded.

The 0-0 draw against Grosseto in the last round nevertheless offered the Bianconeri some positive indications, with Zanchetta emphasizing their desire to build on the performance and seek their first win of the season in Sassari.

Di Stefano is the man of the moment

All eyes will inevitably be on Lorenzo Di Stefano.

The Rossoblù striker is coming off the hat-trick he scored against Ostiamare and has already reached four league goals, making him one of the key figures in Torres’ start to the season.

Sunday’s win restored the team’s confidence after the setback in Grosseto, but it also highlighted some difficulties in managing certain phases of the match. Against a Pianese side that have conceded little so far, patience and greater consistency over the full 90 minutes will therefore be needed.

The report on the latest Rossoblù victory is available in our feature on Torres-Ostiamare 3-2, including Di Stefano’s decisive hat-trick.

The previous meetings: Pianese won in Sassari last year

The fixture also brings with it a recent precedent that is unfavorable to the Sassari side.

In the 2025/2026 season, Pianese won 2-0 at the Vanni Sanna, while the return match in Piancastagnaio ended 1-1, with Di Stefano equalizing late on after Fabrizi had put the hosts ahead.

All the more reason not to underestimate a team that, despite their attacking difficulties at the start of this season, managed to trouble the Rossoblù in both meetings last season.

Torres seek consistency before the trip to Forlì

For the Rossoblù, it will be their second consecutive match at the Vanni Sanna and an opportunity to try to put together their first positive run in the league.

The schedule offers no respite, however: after Pianese, Torres will be back in action that same weekend for the away match against Forlì, scheduled for Saturday, September 19 at 2:30 p.m.

First comes the Pianese test: a team still without a win or a goal, but one that has shown in its first four matches that it concedes very little. For Torres, fresh from their thrilling comeback against Ostiamare, the objective is to turn that victory into consistency.
