Bad news for Torres just days before the start of Serie C. Daniele Sorrentino will be unavailable for the away match against Livorno after sustaining an injury in the Coppa Italia game against Spezia.

Tests revealed a sprain to the lateral compartment of the left knee involving the ligaments, but with no signs of damage. The striker has already begun his rehabilitation programme.

Sidelined for at least two weeks

According to La Nuova Sardegna, Sorrentino is facing a layoff of at least a couple of weeks, although his recovery time will depend on how the problem develops over the coming days.

The Rossoblù number 99 also started the Coppa Italia clash against Spezia, which ended 4-1 to the Ligurians, before leaving the field in the 62nd minute to make way for Luigi Scotto.

Greco loses an attacking reference point

Sorrentino's absence is another problem for Alfonso Greco, who will have to reshape the attacking department ahead of the opening matchday.

Torres will make their debut on Monday, August 24 at 8:30 p.m. away to Livorno, in an already difficult away match that must now be faced without one of the Rossoblù attack's main reference points.

Sorrentino arrived in Sassari in January 2026 from Cavese, after scoring five goals in the first half of the season with the Campania club. He then also helped Torres secure safety, scoring in the decisive second leg of the playout against Bra.

For Greco, therefore, the priority will be to find an immediate solution while waiting for the striker to recover.
