A decision will be made in the coming hours, after a further assessment of the injury and in consultation with Sorrentino himself. No return date has been indicated at present: the only certainty is that the forward will not be available immediately. Torres had already announced at the end of August that the player would be sidelined after he injured his left knee in the Coppa Italia match against Spezia; the new tests revealed the meniscus injury.

The absence comes at a delicate stage of the schedule. Torres are set to play two consecutive home matches: Sunday, September 13, at 3 p.m. against Ostiamare, and Wednesday, September 16, at 6:30 p.m. against Pianese. The dates and times are listed in the official 2026-2027 season schedule.
For Alfonso Greco, this means managing another emergency in attack and identifying alternatives ahead of the two home fixtures. For now, the club has provided no indication of Sorrentino’s recovery time and has not announced which of the two treatment options will be chosen. The next medical update should clarify whether the player can immediately begin a conservative rehabilitation program or whether surgery will be necessary.
