On Tuesday, November 10, crews from Abbanoa will replace a section of the main water pipeline between Uri and Usini, as part of the plan to improve the efficiency of the water network in the Sassari district. To carry out the work, water flow through the pipes will be interrupted: pressure drops and temporary suspensions of the water supply are possible in both towns.

The work involves laying a new pipeline and decommissioning the existing one, which is now obsolete. The pipeline has suffered several breaks, so the utility’s technicians have scheduled its complete replacement to address problems with the network in the area. Work is expected to begin at 8:30 a.m. and finish, according to the schedule, at 6:30 p.m..

The interruption to water flow during the work may have different effects in the two towns and at various stages of the project: Abbanoa says that both reduced pressure and temporary interruptions are possible. The water supply is expected to return to full capacity once the work is complete. Technicians will try to keep the interruption as brief as possible and, if the work finishes ahead of schedule, may restore service sooner.

The utility has issued the following information for residents of Uri and Usini:

  • the work is scheduled for Tuesday, November 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.;
  • pressure drops or temporary water interruptions may occur during the work;
  • when service resumes, the water may appear cloudy because the pipes will have been temporarily drained and then refilled;
  • to report any issues, call the toll-free number 800 022 040, available 24 hours a day.

The replacement is part of a period of work and service disruptions affecting the local water supply. On October 25, another break in the main water pipeline in Uri required repair work; the article reporting the incident described it as a recurring break. In Sassari, water outages in several neighborhoods were also recently announced, although these are related to a separate project.
