In Olbia schools, nurseries and public-facing offices will remain closed all day on Thursday, November 5, following a red weather alert for Gallura. Mayor Settimo Nizzi has signed four emergency orders to reduce risks to the population ahead of the expected bad weather.
The Civil Protection alert concerns hydrogeological and hydraulic risks, as well as thunderstorms. It is in effect from 6 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4 until 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, November 5; the red alert code, corresponding to high-level risk, has been issued for Gallura. Forecasts indicate possible heavy showers, gusts of wind, localized hail and lightning. The municipal measures may be reassessed depending on how the weather develops.
The closure applies to schools of all levels, both public and private, as well as services for children aged 0–3 and afternoon education centers. It also covers public offices that receive visitors, while guaranteeing essential minimum services. The orders also apply to municipal cemeteries and Fausto Noce Park, including some venues and sports facilities.
- Schools and educational services: all schools, nurseries, services for children aged 0–3 and afternoon education centers are closed.
- Public offices: public-facing services are suspended; essential minimum services will remain available.
- Municipal cemeteries: closed all day on Thursday, November 5.

The municipal administration urges residents to limit travel to essential journeys and follow updates shared through official channels. In the event of danger, residents are advised to move to upper floors of their homes, avoid basements and move their cars to safe places. Regional guidance can also be found in the weather alert in Sardinia.
The Municipal Operations Center and the relevant services will continue to monitor the situation and inform residents of any updates. The closures are in place for November 5, but the measure remains subject to changing weather conditions. The administration urges caution and asks residents to follow the authorities’ instructions.
