The Municipality of Castelsardo is bringing its content to smartphones with the Castelsardo app, designed for residents, tourists and local businesses. The launch is credited to the administration led by Mayor Maria Lucia Tirotto.
The features listed in the app description include information about events, itineraries, places of interest and local businesses. The app is intended as a digital access point to useful content for both residents and visitors, bringing together municipal information and tools to help people explore local offerings.
A service designed to make it easier to consult city information using a single tool. For visitors, itineraries and points of interest offer a gateway to discovering the area; for residents, the municipal content keeps them connected to updates from the local government.
“This isn’t one of those usual apps that bring together a range of information that then remains static”— Mayor Tirotto explains — “It is an ecosystem of services and public-interest features for both residents and tourists. We chose to create a kind of miniature, portable municipality, available 24/7, able to bring all the answers together in a single digital access point. Residents and tourists won’t have to search for information; instead, the information will reach them through a system of real-time notifications on their smartphones”.
The initiative is part of a broader move to use digital tools to bring services and information closer to local communities. Sardinia is also home to projects with different aims, such as Zabile, the Sassari app for businesses, which focuses on automatable work. In Castelsardo’s case, the stated focus remains on information for residents and tourists, with content for different audiences brought together under the city’s name.
The app is available to download on Google Play and the App Store:
