The Dinamo Banco di Sardegna announced on Thursday, 1 October that it had signed Sean Flood, an Irish point guard who joins the Biancoblu roster after a stint with Mitteldeutscher in Germany’s top division. The player will be available to coach Luca Vitali.

The arrival follows the mutual termination of Brandon Young’s contract. He had been signed on a short-term deal to replace the injured Kaza Kajami-Kean. Young was sidelined by a physical issue on Dinamo’s debut in Milan against Urania, after joining the squad ahead of its Serie A2 opener. The move comes as part of the team’s ongoing process; Young had been presented as one of its new additions in early September.

Flood was born in Dublin on 10 September 1996 and can play both point guard and shooting guard. After playing college basketball in the United States at Longwood, he built his professional career in Germany, Cyprus, Austria, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. The Biancoblu roster profile for the 2026-27 season lists him as a “Point Guard/Shooting Guard.”

In the 2025-26 season with Heroes Den Bosch in the BNXT League, the new signing averaged 8.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists, shooting 39.7% from three-point range. Another standout season came in 2023-24 with Den Helder Suns, when he averaged 15.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game.

Flood has also represented the Irish national team. In the 2024 World Cup qualifiers, he averaged 17.5 points and 3.7 assists, shooting 57.1% from three-point range and 84.4% from the free-throw line. In introducing him, the club describes him as a player who can run the offense, provide a perimeter threat and bring defensive intensity.

Sporting director Paolo Citrini linked the move to the need to respond to the unexpected injury: “The club has done a great job; the team needed a player, and the club moved quickly in the market”. Citrini added that Flood immediately showed interest and a desire to come to Sassari. The signing thus completes Dinamo’s reshuffle of its backcourt following changes to the squad at the start of the season.
