Ahead of the away game against Campobasso, scheduled for Sunday, October 4, Torres coach Alfonso Greco previewed the match at a press conference at the Vanni Sanna. It will be the Rossoblù’s eighth game in Serie C’s Group B. The coach sees it as an opportunity to assess the team’s form, without making any early judgments about the playoffs.
Greco described Campobasso as a quality side, with an attack capable of combining strength, skill and unpredictability. He expects a demanding performance and explained that the match could provide an indication of the Sassarese side’s progress at this stage of the season. His message, however, was to focus on the game and be ready, without trying to calculate things in advance.
The coach played down the idea that this would be a direct playoff clash: according to Greco, it is still too early to determine what kind of season Torres can have. He added that the team must first discover its potential through hard work and performances on the pitch.
One area the Rossoblù are looking to improve is their finishing. Greco acknowledged that in recent games the team has created chances without converting enough of them, citing in particular the match against Vado, which ended 0-0 at the Vanni Sanna. He nevertheless felt that the team’s ability to get shots away was positive and identified making the most of its opportunities as the next step.
On external pressure, the coach said the team must first hold itself accountable. The stated objective remains avoiding relegation, he clarified, but that does not mean settling for less: “We’ll keep our heads down and keep working”. Greco also ruled out any specific reason for the difference between the team’s home and away performances, identifying the game in Grosseto as the only one, in his view, that Torres had truly got wrong.
As for the squad’s fitness, Mattia Scaringi and Gianmaria Zanandrea returned to availability after a week of training, following a spell on the sidelines. The club had confirmed that they were back training with the group. Before departure, Greco was due to assess the condition of the other players who had reported pain during the week.
The match will be played at the Molinari Stadium. For kick-off times and information about the game, see the Campobasso-Torres match page.
