More availability for those looking for a family doctor in the Sassari area.
From Monday, 17 August 2026, five doctors in the Sassari District can increase the maximum number of patients they can take on, from 1,000 to 1,500 patients each.
The change comes after completing the regional course providing specific training in General Medicine and will expand the capacity of primary care services in the area.
Who the five doctors are
The professionals concerned are:
- Morgana Cadeddu, with a clinic in Sassari;
- Massimiliano Piras, with a clinic in Li Punti, Sassari;
- Francesca Ruiu, with a clinic in Sassari;
- Matteo Serra, with clinics in Porto Torres and Stintino;
- Andrea Todde, working in Ossi, Cargeghe, Codrongianus, Florinas, Muros, Ploaghe, Tissi and Usini.
If they all reached the new maximum, the measure could result in up to 2,500 additional places compared with the five doctors' previous capacity.
How to choose a family doctor
Interested patients can make their choice through several channels.
They can use the regional online portal for choosing and changing their doctor, contact the relevant offices of the Sassari Social and Healthcare District, or complete the procedure through local pharmacies.
The request can also be submitted by email to the ASL, attaching an identity document and health card and indicating the chosen doctor and a telephone number.
More availability for local healthcare
Increasing the maximum patient list does not, on its own, resolve the difficulties related to the availability of general practitioners, but it does represent an immediate increase in the District's capacity to take on patients.
For those who currently have no doctor or need to make a new choice, the additional places are already available from 17 August.
A new development affecting not only the city of Sassari, but also Porto Torres, Stintino and several towns in the surrounding area.
