The organizational machine for New Year’s Eve 2027 in Sassari is entering its operational phase. At its meeting on September 10, 2026, the municipal government approved a policy directive to secure the exclusive booking of the artist chosen for New Year’s Eve and allocated a first tranche of €563,640. The measure must now go through the further required administrative steps, including review by the Municipal Council.

The sum covers the contract with the exclusive agency and the performer already identified by the administration, whose name does not appear in the measure. The rest of the organization — from security to technical and logistical services — has been prudently estimated at around one million euros. The event’s overall value thus reaches around €1.5 million, a figure that is still indicative and subject to change depending on the final planning.

The name remains undisclosed

Speculation about the artist’s identity continues. The most frequently mentioned possibility is Zucchero, but at present there is no official confirmation or contract that has already been signed. The administration’s priority is therefore to formalize the agreement quickly, to prevent the artist from being booked for other events and costs from rising as the holidays approach. The news of the allocation was also confirmed by L’Unione Sarda.

The financial coverage for the initial commitment includes regional funds already transferred to the Municipality and a portion temporarily drawn from earmarked funds, pending the availability of additional resources linked to the regional program for major events. Here too, however, the final picture will depend on subsequent budget measures and any contribution from the Region.

Piazzale Segni remains the leading option

For the venue, piazzale Segni is still being considered, having already been used on December 31, 2025, for Max Pezzali’s concert. The Municipality had chosen the area because of its capacity to accommodate a large audience and for safety and crowd-flow management reasons, as also documented in the official communication about the previous event. For December 31, 2026, however, the administrative measure also leaves open the possibility of selecting an alternative venue, provided it is suitable for a large audience.

The new event is part of the strategy through which Sassari aims to strengthen its appeal to tourists during the winter season. Information about the previous event at piazzale Segni is available in the Sassari Municipality press release. As for the 2026 calendar and program, the official announcement of the artist, the signing of the contract and the organizational details are still pending.
