Summer does not seem ready to leave Sardinia. After a brief easing of temperatures, a new rise in heat is expected over the next few days, with the most intense phase forecast between Wednesday, August 26 and Thursday, August 27.
The latest weather models indicate that the threshold of 40 degrees could once again be exceeded, especially in inland areas and some parts of northern Sardinia.
Temperatures above 40 degrees in inland areas
The scenario is also confirmed by forecasts issued by ARPAS on August 22. For Wednesday, August 26, temperatures are expected to reach 45 degrees in Ardara, 43 in Ozieri and 42 in Alghero, while the forecast high in Sassari is around 39 degrees.
The situation could become even more significant on Thursday, August 27. The regional agency's probabilistic models show a high likelihood of temperatures exceeding 40 degrees in numerous locations, particularly in the Sassarese area and inland parts of the island.
A new burst of heat after a record-breaking summer
The new rise comes at the end of a summer already marked by exceptionally high temperatures. In July, the ARPAS station in Orani recorded 48.4 degrees, a figure subsequently validated by the regional agency and identified as a new all-time record for Sardinia.
The hottest phase of next week will nevertheless need to be monitored through model updates: several days out, the intensity and distribution of the peaks may still change.
For now, however, the trend appears clear: after the brief respite over the weekend, another sharp rise in temperatures is expected across Sardinia before the end of August.
