The September heat is giving Sassari a break. After days that still felt fully summery, a sharp drop in temperatures is expected on Thursday, September 10, with values significantly lower than those recorded during the first part of the week.
According to the official forecasts from ARPAS, Sassari should still reach a high of 33 degrees on Wednesday, September 9, with a low of 21. On Thursday, the situation will change significantly: the thermometer should range between 19 and 25 degrees.
In just 24 hours, therefore, the high could fall by around 8 degrees.
More clouds and westerly winds on Thursday, September 10
The drop in temperatures will be accompanied by a change in weather conditions.
For northwestern Sardinia, ARPAS forecasts more cloud cover on Thursday, with skies ranging from partly cloudy to cloudy at times during the day. At present, however, no significant rainfall is forecast for Sassari.
Winds will blow predominantly from the west, helping to make the air decidedly cooler than in previous days.
Other weather models also point to similar values: Tempo Italia forecasts a high of around 25–26 degrees for Sassari, while iLMeteo expects afternoon temperatures of around 24–25 degrees.
End of September’s hottest spell
The change marks a sharp interruption to the hot spell that had characterized the beginning of the month.
Just a few days ago, Sardinia was affected by a new expansion of the subtropical anticyclone, with temperatures reaching 37–38 degrees in inland areas and above-average values also in the Sassarese area.

The contrast will be particularly evident inland as well: Ozieri will go from the 38 degrees forecast for Wednesday to 31 on Thursday, while Tempio Pausania could stop at just 21 degrees.
What will happen over the weekend
The cooler weather should not be limited to Thursday alone.
According to the ARPAS outlook, on Friday and Saturday the sky will remain partly cloudy, with no significant changes in temperatures, and winds still light or moderate from the west.
In Sassari, highs should therefore remain decidedly lower than the 33 degrees recorded in midweek, although a slight rise is possible.
After a start to September that still felt fully summery, Sassari is thus preparing for its first real taste of temperatures more typical of the autumn season.
