Torres: five matches unbeaten, but three consecutive draws

Torres return to play in front of their home fans after picking up a point in Molise.

In Campobasso, the Rossoblù fell behind in first-half stoppage time to a goal from Gabriele Corbo, before drawing level after the break thanks to Celesia’s own goal, following a cross from Mastinu. The result took Sassari to 12 points.

Greco’s team have now gone five consecutive matches unbeaten, although their last three games have all ended in draws. Against Atalanta U23, they will be looking to get back to winning ways and claim the three points they have been missing for several weeks.

Atalanta U23 head to Sassari after two postponed matches

Atalanta U23 are in an unusual situation.

The young Nerazzurri have played only six matches, earning nine points from three wins and three defeats. Their games against Latina and Vis Pesaro, scheduled for the seventh and eighth matchdays respectively, were postponed because a large number of players were away with their national teams.

Latina-Atalanta U23 will be played on October 14, while Atalanta U23-Vis Pesaro has been rescheduled for October 28.

The Bergamo side’s most recent match was therefore on September 20, when Ravenna won 2-0 in Caravaggio with goals from Rabbi and Esposito.

The long break makes the Nerazzurri one of the main unknowns ahead of the match at the Vanni Sanna.

A clash of experience and young talent in Sassari

Torres will need to approach the match with care. Atalanta U23 are built to develop some of the Bergamo club’s leading academy prospects and have technically gifted, quick players who can be dangerous, particularly when they find space.

Sassari, meanwhile, will look to make the most of their greater experience and home advantage, while also aiming to be more clinical in attack after three consecutive draws.

For the Rossoblù, Lorenzo Di Stefano remains a key player. Just days ago, he renewed his contract with Torres until June 2029. Read more in our article on Lorenzo Di Stefano’s contract extension with Torres.

Kick-off Sunday at 12:30 at the Vanni Sanna

Torres-Atalanta U23 will therefore be played on Sunday, October 11 at 12:30 at the Vanni Sanna Stadium in Sassari.

For those unable to attend, the match will be available live on Sky Sport and streamed on NOW and Sky Go.

After three consecutive draws, Torres will look to make the most of their return in front of their home fans to get back to winning ways and continue their campaign in Serie C Group B.
