To sort your waste correctly in Sassari, the first step is to identify the service available at your address. Door-to-door collection, nearby containers, and collection in the agro follow different procedures.

Finding the calendar for your area

On the Differenziata Sassari portal, the “Collection calendars” section lets you search for a street by entering its name without the house number.

Do not automatically apply the urban calendar to the hamlets and the agro. In the historic center, the service provider specifies a service using nearby containers; the urban area also has street collection and smart containers.

In 2026, plastic and cans are collected together, including in the door-to-door service. The old instructions on sorting metals separately are therefore out of date.

Urban door-to-door collection: days and times

For households covered by the 2026 urban calendar, regular collection takes place as follows:

  • Monday: Organic waste, plastic, and cans
  • Tuesday: Paper and cardboard
  • Wednesday: Organic waste and glass
  • Thursday: Residual waste
  • Friday: Plastic and cans
  • Saturday: Organic waste

Containers must be put out between 8 p.m. and midnight on the evening before collection day, unless different arrangements have been agreed with the service provider.

For the agro, the calendar instead says to put waste out by 8 a.m. on collection day and to use a compost bin for organic waste.

Always check for holiday exceptions: the calendar moves plastic and cans collection from December 25 to 26, 2026 and from January 1 to 2, 2027.

Recycling centers: where to take your waste

The two municipal recycling centers are located at 1 Via Ariosto, with access from Via Montello, and at Funtana di Lu Coibu, in the former incinerator area.

The published regular opening hours are:

  • Via Ariosto / Via Montello: Monday to Friday, 8:15 a.m.–1 p.m. and 2:30–4:30 p.m.; Saturday, 8:15 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
  • Funtana di Lu Coibu: Monday to Friday, 9:45 a.m.–2:30 p.m. and 4:30–6:30 p.m.; Saturday, 12:30–4:45 p.m.

Closed on Sundays. The summer opening hours published for July and August 2026 do not apply in October.

Accepted materials include furniture, electrical and electronic equipment, cardboard, and used oils. For specific materials or large quantities, check in advance whether they can be accepted.

Bulky waste: book a pickup before putting it out

The regular free home pickup service can be booked by calling 800 012 572 or through the Municip.io app.

The service provider allows a maximum of three items per pickup and twelve pickups per year. The date, place to put the items out, and identification code must be agreed when booking.

A notice dated October 5 announced a temporary suspension, with service expected to resume on October 7, barring unforeseen issues: confirm that the service is operating before putting materials out.

Batteries, medicines, and oil: use the designated collection points

  • Household batteries: use designated containers or take them to a recycling center. Car batteries must be disposed of separately.
  • Expired medicines: use designated containers; separate the boxes and information leaflets, which go in the paper recycling.
  • Used cooking oil: collect it in a tightly sealed container and take it to a designated container or recycling center. Do not pour it down the drain.

Bags, bins, and assistance

Bags and kits can be collected from the Centro del Riuso, entrance on Via Montello at the intersection with Via Ariosto, by presenting the taxpayer's health card:

  • Tuesday: 8 a.m.–12 p.m. and 2–5 p.m.;
  • Thursday and Saturday: 8 a.m.–12 p.m..

For information and to report issues, the service provider lists 800 012 572 as available Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m.–7 p.m..
